SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR VOTERS WHOSE ABSENTEE BALLOTS ARRIVE LATE

If you have requested but not received your absentee ballot from your local State by October 20, you can use the “Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot” (FWAB) to register your vote for federal offices (U.S. President, Senator, Congressman). You can use the FWAB ONLY if you meet these three conditions:

1. You are outside the United States;

2. You requested your absentee ballot in a timely fashion (i.e., so that your local election official RECEIVED it by October 1);

3. You have not received your regular absentee ballot.

If you meet these three conditions and want to use the FWAB, please come to the American Citizen Services Unit of U.S. Embassy Warsaw or U.S. Consulate General Krakow or the U.S. Consular Agency in Poznan to obtain and submit the FWAB.

If your regular State absentee ballot subsequently arrives, you should vote and return it, too. If it arrives back in time, your State will ignore the FWAB and count your regular ballot. If your regular ballot is late, at least your federal votes will be counted using the FWAB.
